TEMPLE AMBLER SPEECH CAMP NEWS TONIGHT

This assignment displays your ability to prepare and present a newscast similar to those seen at 6:00 p.m. locally. Each person in your group is responsible for at least three-minutes of presentation, based on research, during your group's newscast. Your group can divide up the jobs however you wish, but you should have at least one anchor whose job it is to not only report the news but to transition between stories. The group is to work cooperatively in decision-making and in organizing your newscast. The group decides the exact format and content. However, it should meet the following guidelines:

1) Each group member present must give a three-minute minimum presentation that day—This may be cumulative (small chunks of time added together to equal 3 minutes) or it may be all at once.

2) Each speaker should prepare a visual aid for his/her presentation. This can be as simple as a chart or a photograph or as elaborate as a videotaped interview.

SELECT PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

National/International News: stories about things affecting our nation or
the world
Local News: news worthy stories from and about Pennsylvania and the
Philadelphia metropolitan area
Camp News: newsworthy stories about Ambler campers
Features: similar to Food for Thought, Consumer Connection, Money Talks, Entertainment Tonight, Health Report, Fashion Scene, etc. You can also use features to include other speech assignments (i.e. a Point-Counterpoint
Segment or cover someone doing an oral interp, or a persuasive speech, etc)

(You may only have one of each of the following in your newscast)
Sports: update on sports
Editorials: personal opinion on controversial topic of interest

Review: personal opinion on a book, movie, TV show, CD, etc.

You may include weather reports, commercials, or PSA's (Public Service Announcements) to enhance your presentation. Be as creative as you wish!
